New Music Review: “Ain’t Backing Down” by Wrekonize (Prod. By Michael Summers)

Summer time is typically the season for blockbuster movies and hard hitting tracks that get you ready to tackle the sunshine and amp up your every day tasks. Wrekonize's newest single "Ain't Backing Down" is one of those hard hitting tracks that also changes up the formula from your usual radio smash hit.

On the Michael Summers produced track, Wrekonize starts the track off with a mellow rhyme scheme supplemented with a plucky guitar that entrances you before immediately dropping you into the first hook with a vicious energy. Summers' drum pattern with a layered 808 and a chill flute pattern perfectly compliments Wrekonize's hook without overcomplicatkng or overcrowding the space. Going into the verses, Wrekonize bridges the energy of the hook into precision cut verses that do not falter. With a rhythmic cadence, each verse executes itself perfectly along with the tempo of the beat. Wrekonize's delivery exudes the same freeing mentality that a summer drive down the freeway with the windows down would give.

"Ain't Backing Down" is Wrekonize showcasing the skills he has accumulated and developed over his long career as well as providing something new akin to reaching his second prime era in music. The only issue found with this track is the lack of a third verse to really cement the concept as a complete thought. Two verses being presented in a track called "Ain't Backing Down" seems to contradict the very essence of the song emanating a slight hesitation to round out the track's concept with a third verse. However, with that said, "Ain't Backing Down" is a great track to enjoy your summer with and showcases Wrekonize's amazing ability to bring different influences into one track.
